The Staff of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recommended that the CPSC publish as a Regulation an updated Excluded Materials List under Section 101 of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) which provides that certain materials do not exceed the lead content limits under Section 101(a) of the CPSIA and, therefore, do not need to be tested, although they must still comply with the published lead content standards.
Therefore, Schiff Ribbons interprets the proposed Regulation to mean that ribbon products manufactured by Schiff Ribbons (excluding those requiring after-treatment applications such as printed ribbons) do not need to be tested under Section 101 of the CPSIA.
Schiff Ribbons products fall well below the lead content limits established by the CPSC for their deadline dates in February, 2009, August, 2009 and August 2011. Schiff Ribbons does not use phthalates in any of its component materials.
